Hip Hub Hooray is a brand new hiphop festival focussing on bringing together different areas from the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. The festival is held in Belgium, and strictly books acts from the EU region. The city of Tongeren approached me to do branding for the entire concept of Hip Hub Hooray. HHH is not just a festival, but includes 'Hubs', which are workshop sessions ranging from producing to rapping, breakdancing and street art. These hubs were leading up to the event, and some of the participants were also booked for the festival at the end of September.
Since the organisation is so focused on the regional/national/international aspect, I decided to fully base the branding of off that concept. Together with talented illustrator Xerxes Heirman, we created 7 characters based off landmarks of the 7 cities included in the 'EUregion'. The doodle elements are lines coming from the borders of the map of the EUregion and the color scheme was taken from Tongeren's coat of arms. The shape of the logo is shaped like the city of Tongeren aswell.
