SILK SPRING
A series of designs created on Chanderi silks, Bhagalpuri silks and Handwoven cottons,
for the domestic Indian market using hand done crochet and hand embroidery (thread and aari).
The aim was to create designs that could last beyond a single season.
This project included working with first generation hand embroidery artisans, which included training them to improve their existing skill level by teaching them the basics of embroidery followed by instruction on quality and finishing standards. It further involved training for production specific practices like creating tracings and transferring them onto fabrics.
