Overlay
That was another uni project. The topic of the course was to explore the overlay effect on typography. We had to overlay letters to see what it makes with the text and how far you can go, to be still able to read it. After a couple of tests, I came up with this layout.
In the beginning, if I had to write a longer text, so I can focus more on layouts, I had to overlay every letter one by one in Illustrator. After some print-examples, I thought this should work more efficiently. So I came up with the idea to build the overlay layout as a font. The font works like a regular font, and I no longer need to think about positioning the letters one by one.
My thoughts with the typeface were to create a font, where the letters overlap each other just a little bit, so it's still legible. Typically the Uppercase letters in a font are bigger than lowercase letters, so I decided to make the opposite of that to make the font more standing out. I also placed them to the right, so they are less dominant.
