The approach I took was to design my images for each page in the style of French illustrator Malika Favre. I had adopted her design style earlier this year when I worked on my Illustrated Alliteration book. Out of all the different illustrator's works I've looked at this year, Malika's work spoke the most to me. She uses large shapes of hard contrasting color palettes to show the form or shadows of objects in her pictures; namely her covers of The New Yorker magazine. She may occasionally use stripes to add depth to an aerial image of a landscape or large static surrounding of an object.
