Avenir Type Specimen Book
For my type specimen book, I used Adrian Frutiger’s Avenir typeface which was created in 1988. It was revisited from 2004-2007 which created several more styles and was renamed Avenir Next.
The word avenir is French for “future” which is suitable because of its geometric style. This type face relates to the city Rotterdam in the Netherlands since it is used as their corporate identity. Throughout this book you will learn the history and anatomy about the typeface Avenir Next and a deep dive into the architecture and refinement of Rotterdam as a city.
