SOMEBODY'S LAND

Somebody's Land

The last few years have seen a major transformation in the area periphery of the metropolitan area of Lisbon. While they appear neighborhoods close to major access to the capital, others will falling into ruin and gradually losing its identity. Both Sarilhos Pequenos and Bairro Serrano (Montijo — a work done by another colleague) have this in mind. The common. The industries that existed there ( factories, train, shipyards or salinas) have long since disappeared, as most of the inhabitants.

Degradation and ruin are there, beginning to affect their memories as well. Who still remembers what was in that house? What was that warehouse for? Both are places that have lasted beyond their function. Can a train station be one without trains? Can dock be one without boats? Its a "no man's land" that once belonged to someone.

To better convey this message we use a website, since this medium is more versatile. The overlap of
images of the parallax effect highlights both the similarities and differences between the two places, thus offering an open but informative perspective.
