A view from one of the windows of the barracks in Auschwitz I
 Autumn of 2018
I wish I could describe my feelings after being in Auschwitz I & Auschwitz II-Birkenau, beyond my words and the following images. The things I felt being in both camps were nothing less but deep sorrow and sadness for the hundreds of thousands of humans that suffered and died there.

Let's never forget the Holocaust, let's never forget that humans are also capable of such a profound love and light, that it can raise us up from unutterable horror and make us survive through the worst nightmares.

Auschwitz II - Birkenau
The infamous portal through where hundreds of thousands went to their certain death, the original railroads are still on their place and pictured here.
Through this road people were conducted to the wooden barracks of Auschwitz II - Birkenau, those whom weren't "so lucky" to live another day, were taken directly to gas chambers and their bodies thrown into the furnaces 300 meters to the back of the camp from here.
Chimneys of the wooden barracks, some of the only remains standing from the time of the WWII until today.
Wooden barracks reconstructed.

2. View of the portal of the camp as seen from the point of where people were ordered to get down of the trains at their arrival to Auschwitz II - Birkenau.
