A Organização das Nações Unidas para a Educação, a Ciência e a Cultura (Unesco) define Cultura Popular como “o conjunto de criações que emanam de uma comunidade cultural, fundadas na tradição, expressas por um grupo ou por indivíduos e que reconhecidamente respondem às expectativas da comunidade enquanto expressão de sua identidade cultural e social”. Engloba folclore, cultura oral, cultura tradicional e cultura de massa.
Entre manifestações da cultura popular brasileira já registradas – ou em processo de registro – como patrimônio imaterial pelo Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional (Iphan) estão: Literatura de Cordel, Frevo, Bumba meu boi, Jongo, Fandango Caiçara, Tambor de Crioula, Congadas de Minas, Cocos do Nordeste e Marujada de São Benedito.
Este projeto de cartaz destina-se a homenagear os premiados e selecionados artistas da iniciativa, seus cartazes seguem referenceslight de folhas de plantas tropicais.
