CIIE 2018 Hungarian Pavilion

Exhibition & Signage
In 2018, Hungary had its own pavilion at the China International Import Expo. WYN.DESIGN (former MOBILSOFA) collaborated with CreaCity to design the concept of the stand, the elements of the installation, the graphic identity, and the interactive activities that are connected to the theme of the exhibition.
Design Concept
Keywords: Gate to Europe; Past and Future; Urban Eclecticism

The starting point of the concept is how people in China see Hungary, what they associate the country with. In our narrative, Hungary is a meeting point: East-West, old-new, classical-modern. As viewed from China: Hungary is a gate to Europe. We are located where the east meets the west, and the architecture of our capital is eclectic, where the atmosphere of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries coexists with modern architecture.

The main inspiration for the design of the stand structure was parasite architecture, the phenomenon of urban architecture when modern building elements are built on existing old structures. The elements of the stand create the atmosphere of a downtown pedestrian street. The building complex is bisected with a distinctive line that goes across the stand. On one side of the line, some of Budapest’s architectural motifs will be placed on the walls with references to history, while on the other side, we will build a modern structure from transparent glass panels.

Interactive exhibition
On the counter in the centre of the area, information cards are available about the exhibitor companies and visitors can take them. If someone places these cards to the reader on the counter, they activate a video animation on the panoramic display on the wall and the floor:
