LOW EMISSION LAND USE PLANNING IN MADANG
USAID LEAF

USAID LEAF works side by side with their local partners to slow climate change
by developing strategies to sustainably reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the forestry and land use sector

Over a five-year implementation period from 2011-2016, the United States Agency for International Development’s Lowering Emissions in Asia’s Forests (USAID LEAF) program delivered significant results against its overall objective of strengthening the capacity of target countries to achieve meaningful and sustained reductions in greenhouse gas emissions from the forestry-land use sector.

USAID LEAF worked together with the Madang Provincial Government as they develop a province-wide plan consistent with national strategies and grounded in the realities of climate change and local development challenges, which allows Madang to promote continued growth, sustainably manage its natural resources and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
