Her Story: 

Born in Soweto, Johannesburg our hero knows what its like to come from nothing but she worked hard and became a beacon of hope for the rest of her community. She witnessed many violent acts in her childhood, specifically within the walls of her high school. She vowed that one day she would speak out against The Silence and become a channel through which others could as well. Nova uses her photokenisis to shine a light of things normally in the shadows. She gives a voice to the things that The Silence tries to hide. However she struggles because the power of The Silence is too great for her to defeat alone. It is because of this that she has to recruit students who are willing to use their voice and makes it her mission to protect them. Nova and her team of teenage activists band together to fight the silence and give those who fall victim to school violence a safe haven. Nova uses her light to blind The Silence when he tries to stop a young boy from talking to his parents about a violent altercation that he witnessed. She provides a path of light that the boy can walk through where The Silence cannot reach him. She uses her light to fight the darkness. She allows the words that are usually swallowed to be spoken. She will not be a silent witness any longer and she intends to make sure that no other children will ever have to be. Nova shines a light on school violence because she knows that violence seen by many in a public place cannot be ignored and The Silence does not have to power to silence many. 

Nova makes sure no child is ever alone or left in the darkness.
