Some of the illustrations for yet unfinished book of horror stories written and published around 1817 by German writer E.T.A. Hoffman. The stories were considered horror in that period and time. For modern 21. century reader they are more like mysterious, weird and creepy stories than horror and scary. They have dark, strange mood, full of extraordinary, weird characters, places, situations and story lines often combined with almost spiritual, ghostly, spectral and occult elements.
