Salt and Pepper Shaker Design

This is a refined rough sketch of a salt and pepper shaker I'm making in tech class. Our task was to create a salt and pepper shaker using the design process.
Our first task was discovery. I researched a bunch of existing salt and pepper shaker designs online and saved the ones I found interesting. I found the round ones that were white and gold to be an interesting design. I was curious as how the salt and pepper would go in, so I then researched screw caps, lids, and bottle neck designs. This could be considered interpretation, where I further analyzed and looked for answers.
After this was ideation. This is where the sketching came in. I did many sketches online in Sketchbook Pro, and on paper. I went from sketching basic bottle designs to a more distinct form. I knew that I wanted to keep the gold and sliver/white colors, but I didn't like the basic cylinder shape. I decided to add some curves to it and make it more interesting. It still seemed a bit plain, so I decided to add rings around it. I later decided to make it have a "gem" like texture.

We haven't done experimentation in Solidworks just yet, but once we do, I'll be playing around with the shapes a bit, try to model it, and then refine the idea if needed.
