The history of the River Port complex - part of the military state property - located in the
most prestigious area of the city and today’s object of valorisation attempt, begun in 1906 with the expropriation of the area. In fact, it was necessary to link the factories in the Ostiense district with the infrastructures along the Tevere riverbanks.
plot property of Mr. Vincenzo Taburet to be expropriated for public utility by FerroviedelloStato for the construction of a road that links the Ostiense street with the Iron Bridge on the Tevere river, property of the railway line Roma-Pisa, that now becomes a public street for pedestrians and wagons *…+ The area where the plot is located has industrial and commercial importance, because it’s near to the new Ostiense railway station, the railway line Roma-Pisa, the Church of San Paolo, the River Port. The plot also has a 40m front on the Ostiense street, the road under construction that links Rome with the southern area of the city and the sea.”
In those years the Ostiense street was becoming a “system” with several transversal axes that
were slowly becoming very important. One of these axes is the one called ‘Via del Porto Fluviale’ that links the Ostiense tree-lined avenue with the Iron Bridge and the factories on the opposite bank of the river (lungoteveredeiPapareschi).
The complex rises on a trapezoidal plot surrounded by via Ostiense, via del Porto Fluviale, via delleConce and the Roma-Pisa railway. The L-shaped building, used as warehouse and offices of the Air Force, covers a surface of 1600 square meters.
The new complex that includes the revitalized object and three completely new, added buildings is the base of the Center for Creating the Future for Young People. "Homeless" means to look for a new start and a place of work in difficult social conditions of society, especially for people that earn the living with creativity. Graffiti, depicting the faces of monsters is located on the two main faces of the old structure. It was designed by Italian artist – Blu and talks about the social and economic changes in the modern world. This painting happening is connected with the idea of creating a community that will establish and change this place. It will revive the space and invite people from outside. In the city full of tourists, Roman citizens are searching for a place that is far away from the noise of the city. Residents live there, create a community, work for it and present their results.Above all, the rainbow bridge crosses the whole -  it is a main icon andpart
of the exhibition, allowing a wide view for the panorama of Rome. Its colors are a continuation of Blu's work,  transforming the concept of his graffiti into actual actions that will allow to reach the goal of the Center.
