May 2016
Aladdin
For this particular brief, I had to design a spread page introducing a world myth of my choice for a children’s world myths book. I had to include an illustration and make select appropriate typography for the introductory blurb on the adjacent page.
I chose the story of Aladdin and his magic lamp. For the illustration I chose to combine digital and traditional techniques, with the genie and the background created in Photoshop, and the lamp created using watercolour paint and ink.

The typography chosen was an Arabian themed font for the heading and the drop cap, to fit the theme of the story. The rest of the font was a serif font, which was much more legible in the smaller font size.
The overall spread was designed to appeal to children, which was achieved via the colour scheme and illustration style.
