The first time I experienced life in Chongqing, I thought of this city as a piece of concrete placed on a hilly terrain. This was the most densely built city I'd seen to that point. A single Chongqing city district has the same population as the whole country of Latvia, where I was originally from. To me this landscape appeared almost lifeless.
