Kateřina Orlíková’s project addresses problems in archiving art and design events, the historical analysis of materials, and the methods of organizing data.

The practical part of the work is an attempt to capture physical space through Internet photographs. The designer collected 10,000 photographs of her hometown of Chotěboř – an average Czech town of around 10,000 inhabitants. She then cataloged the photographs according to two criteria: color and subject matter (e.g. architecture, food, dance, animals) and presented them in large‑format print (228 cm × 170 cm) and also in pocketbook format (12.5 cm × 17 cm). A magnifying glass appended to the design is meant to encourage the discovery of new places.

Chotěboř 10,000 is an original attempt to show a large quantity of visual material available on the Internet in a way that is interesting to the general public.
