Como daca año, el Festival de Cine Fantástico y de Terror Mórbido saca una convocatoria para que los artistas del medio cinematográfico envíen sus propuestas audiovisuales con el fin de ser parte del catálogo del festival. Dicha convocatoria va acompañado del tema oficial del festival; como lo fue en 2016 el espacio exterior y en 2015 la muerte. Este año, después del décimo aniversario del festival, el tema que se escogió fue la guerra. Dado que el festival tiene una estrecha relación con lo mexicano se optó por traducir este concepto hacia nuestra identidad como país y a su cultura e historia, por lo que el resultado final fue retomar nuestras raíces prehispánicas que tienen una veneración muy arraigada a defender nuestros pueblos para atraer la atención de creadores del mundo del cine. Las imágenes finales representan un guerrero águila, un guerrero jaguar y una sacerdotisa azteca.

Each year, Morbido Film Fest launches a platform in order to call for entries, this means that everyone who has made short or feature films can be parto of the official selection of the 11th edition. Talking about the image, it must follow the main topic of the year, like the outside space in 2016 and the death in 2015. This year, after the tenth anniversary of the festival, the topic chosen was the war. The fest has a closely relationship with Mexican culture and history, so for the final outcome, we decided to go back to our roots and translate this topic with the prehispanic era, people who had a very wisely devotion to defend their love ones. The final characters represent an eagle warrior, a jaguar warrior and an aztec sorceress.
