Viking carved headboard
Hand carved headboard in the later Viking Urnes style with copper gilding. Themed to the main healer goddess 'Eir', whom is associated with the metal copper.
Five different timbers were used; Lime wood (also called Bass wood) for the carving, Cerejeira teardrop veneer for main panel, Sapele for the frame, and pine with plywood for veneer substrate. Gilded with high grade copper leaf. Runes are written in the 'Younger Futhark' long branch alphabet and translated from Old Norse words for authenticity.
