THE QUEEN HERSELF

I’ve been saving hotels from the internet for years now, this is how I discovered ‘Koningin van Pieterburen’ during the time I was living in Amsterdam. Pieterburen is a tiny village in the North of the Netherlands which has about 400 inhabitants. Here located this small Bed and Breakfast, a magical place which is run by it’s owners, Astrid van Rose and her husband.
For 35 years Astrid has been an artist/singer/entertainer and also a kitsch-collector. Her unique hotel offers the perfect opportunity for children to fully experience their childhood fantasies and for adults to evoke their childhood memories.
It was in March 2018 when I was first traveling to Pieterburen to meet Astrid. I started helping around the hotel, taking care of her dogs, welcoming guests and fixing breakfast for them.
As time passed Astrid made me become a part of her quirky worlds. Since then I’ve been trying to find my own fictional character next to her and photograph our everyday life together.

Évek óta gyűjtök különböző szálláshelyeket az interneten, így találtam rá a ‘Koningin van Pieterburen’ (Pieterburen hercegnői) Panzióra, mialatt Amszterdamban éltem. Pieterburen egy 400 fős falu Észak-Hollandiában. Itt él és vezeti férjével együtt a különleges szállodát Astrid van Rose.
Astrid 35 éve művész/énekes/komikus és giccs-gyűjtő. Páratlan szállása lehetőséget kínál a gyermekeknek, hogy teljes mértékben kibontakoztassák a fantáziavilágukat, a felnőtteknek pedig, hogy felelevenítsék a gyerekkorukat.
2018 márciusában utaztam először Pieterburenbe Amszterdamból, hogy megismerhessem Astridot. Segíteni kezdtem a Panzió körül, vigyáztam a kutyáira, köszöntöttem a vendégeket és reggeliztettem őket.
Az ott töltött idő alatt Astrid elkezdett beengedni a sajátos világaiba. Azóta keresem mellette a képzeletbeli karakteremet és fényképeket készítek a közös élményeinkről.
