Horticulturists at the New York Botanical Garden noticed a flower bud had formed on their corpse flower specimen on June 1, 2018. By June 28, the flower had completed its bloom cycle.

For the last 36 hours of the bloom cycle, a constant live stream of the flower was featured on the NYBG website. This book contains stills of this live stream, focusing on instances of interaction with the flower itself, the live stream camera, and the audience beyond.
