I was 8 years old when my Grandfather died. As time passed, I forgot him more and more. My Grandfather had been very sick in the years prior to his death. Most of the memories I do have left of him are of this time. One image that comes to mind is of him asleep on the couch, covered in a red tartan blanket; a shadow of the man he once was. Much like my family archive; The rest of my memories have been distorted by time and I am left with a haphazard collection of moments, that make little sense when viewed either individually or collectively. Most of my memories have been founded through the family photo archive. However, these photographs only provided a visual account of what he physically looked like. They provided me with very little insight into the type of man he once was.

I used the cinemagraph project to bring life to some of these old photos. I filmed some footage of my local lake and edited it to match this image of my Grandfather and Father on Lake Albacutya. I like the subtlety of the movement, and I'm glad the image still retains the edges of the photo. It makes it seem more like a physical object
