Christ’s Family Clinic in Dallas Gives At-Risk Patients

Dallas-based Dr. Melissa Tonn has built up extensive experience in the fields of occupational medicine and pain management. She currently leads the team at OccMD Group P.A., an occupational injury medical management provider to companies that have opted out of the state's workers’ compensation system. Dr. Melissa Tonn also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Texas, in the School of Public Health.

Her noteworthy charitable endeavors in her community include funding medical care for patients at Christ’s Family Clinic. The clinic offers people who lack health insurance a chance to receive high-quality, patient-centered care at no cost.

Any uninsured adult can make an appointment to request comprehensive general and preventive examinations and treatment, as well as specialized services including mammograms, diabetes management, ophthalmologist visits, and others.

In a moving video posted on its website, patients and staff of the clinic describe their experiences in giving and receiving its compassionate, attentive care.

Many of its patients experience the dilemma of making too much money to qualify for government-sponsored care, yet too little to afford private insurance. One man feared that he might have a sudden heart attack and have nowhere to turn for help. After connecting with Christ’s Family Clinic, his fears were put to rest by the services he received.

In keeping with its overall philosophy, the clinic works to provide healthcare in a way that promotes the dignity of all who seek out its services.
