Loft Foods - Burger Burger (Product Development)

Loft Foods develop preservative free condiments, sauces, dips, relishes and syrups, cold pressed juiced using locally sourced and premium produce. These are supplied to restaurants all across New Zealand including Burger Burger, Crab Shack, Culleys, Culpeper, Faro, Lord of the Fries, Lucky Taco, Miss Moonshine and Sean Connolly. Largely of the product development was sauces to accompany meals for My Food Bag.

Loft aims to cater to those that are health conscious and have dietary requirements such as gluten free, celiac, vegetarian and vegan. The scope of the company’s activities includes the production line, importing ingredients, exporting products, desiring and developing recipes and specifications

My placement in the company involved designing and developing recipes and specifications to be mass produced and distributed to other companies and around New Zealand. My responsibilities include managing time proficiently and efficiently to develop a number of samples, learn and follow food safety and hygiene practices for large food production and an all round understanding of production, recipe development and business perspective of the company. During my time working at Loft, I made multiple sauce recipes for My Food Bag from bench top trialing to up scale factory production. I also developed syrups for Burger Burger including tangy orange, pineapple and mint, and strawberry and basil syrup for their fresh sodas range on their menu in 2015
