This was a freelance project done for the Majestic Theatre in Madison, Wisconsin for their first annual Wisconsin Folk Fest. The festival hosted local artists such as Count This Penny, Dietrich Gosser, Pioneer, and Phox.
Because all of the bands were local, I really wanted the poster to highlight the location and celebrate Wisconsin. This was achieved by placing the heart of the tree in the Madison area. The tree rings also speak to the logging history of Wisconsin.
These posters were placed all over Madison and the design was used on Majestic's website and the band's Facebook pages. The posters were also sold at the show.
These posters were screen printed on 100# 12.5x19" French True White Speckletone Paper.
My design was featured in a show at the Wisconsin Historical Museum Spring 2013 titled “You Are Here: Maps and Meanings.” The exhibit showcased how historic and contemporary maps have helped define and reinterpret various senses of Wisconsin identity.
