Back in April to July 2018, I worked with Charissa Ong, a renowned self-published Malaysian poet (and also a super good friend), to create a series of photographs to help promote the publication of her new set of work in a book called Daylight Dialogues. It initially started out with the idea of doing sets of portraits that could be used as promotional material for both prints and digital, but gradually we've come to the talks of creating product shoots, ending up to covering the press conference on the aforementioned book launch as well. Since both of us came from an art and design background, both of use worked together to come up with visual ideas and concepts that we wanted to work with, ranging from wardrobe, props, to poses and colour grading. The end result is nothing short of a beautiful set from a beautiful collaboration.
The set above is shot in the Klebang "Desert" of Malacca. The make-up was done by Charissa's sister, if not mistaken. Thanks to my brother for the assisting.
The set above is shot in Jao Tim, Petaling Street, KL. The make-up was done by Charissa's sister too, if I didn't remember wrongly. Thanks to my Dani Chan for the photo assist.
The set above is shot in Charissa's sister's new, empty apartment, which explains the lack of furnishing, which is also a good thing to have it spic and span . The make-up was done by Charissa's sister (again), if I didn't remember wrongly. Thanks to my Dani Chan for the photo assist.

The pictures were used in multiple media, you can find social proof here:
