How Industrial, Product Designers Can Help Keep Plastic Out of the Ocean?

I think that industrial and product designers should be concerned about plastic garbage issue.

Problem & Background

It takes so long till them to be divided through the light and waves in surface of the sea.

Even though they are divided, those plastic particles are still alive and eventually
we are gonna be exposed whatever we are drinking and wherever we are going.

현재, 작게 쪼개어진 플라스틱들은 우리의 삶 구석구석, 생수병, 수돗물 등 각지에 침투했습니다.

BODYBOARD TREND

Bodyboards are cheaper than surfboards, and beginners are more likely to enter.
It is easier to find bodyboards on the beach than surfing boards,
and people who enjoy bodyboarding are increasing every year.

바디보드는 서핑보드보다 가격이 저렴하고 상대적으로 초심자들이 입문하기가 쉽습니다.

해외 해변에서는 서핑보드보다 바디보더들을 더 쉽게 발견할 수 있으며

바디보딩을 즐기는 사람들은 매해 증가하고 있습니다.

Micro-plastic usually exists in surface of the sea.

That is why we designed it as a stuff to solve the problem, which can suck the pollution and also you can enjoy the ocean.

INSPIRATION & MOTIVATION & FUNCTION

Mantas are found in warm temperate, subtropical and tropical waters.
Both species are pelagic; M. birostris migrates across open oceans, singly or in groups, while M. alfredi tends to be resident and coastal.
They are filter feeders and eat large quantities of zooplankton, which they swallow with their open mouths as they swim.

The value of Manta Ray's gills is that they are natural filters that do not require any filter replacement or electricity.

쥐가오리는 여과섭식 생물로 플랑크톤이나 크릴새우 등을 주먹이로 삼으며 살아갑니다.

입을벌리고 헤엄치며 작은 생물들을 사냥을 합니다.

쥐가오리 아가미 필터가 가지고 있는 가치는 필터교체나 전기를 필요로 하지 않는 천연필터라는 것입니다.

Naturally, ‘Manta rays’ uses their gills, which has nature filter on, when they get some planktons. We reinterpreted this process in a modern way and then put this idea into ‘Manta’.
