The Village is an online marketplace for lending out objects from around the home to those in your area. It's a great way to save or earn money on those objects which you have but only occasionally use. The idea is one which does exist, inspired by recent consumer theories on collaborative consumption. When given an assignment at university to create a way-finding system I thought it could be a interesting way to look at both way-finding and this new form of market.
Home/Login page

Displays your own location and a map of your area. Once you have begun lending to and from others you build up our own database of connections which appear here on the main map showing you what others have to lend out.

The New to the village section shows you new and interesting things being lent out, A colour scale aids users in showing them what is closest to them.
Using the Search bar at the top of any page, users can search for items which suit their location. These are displayed using the colour scale to indicate distance and can be filtered through on the right using the map and slide bars.
Once someone has found an item they're looking for they can click on it find out more, view the profile of the person lending it out, and request to lend the item from them.
My Village Page

Once you have set up lends with others you can use your My village page to view and download directional google maps to where the item you need is. A wishlist can also be entered which notifies you when something you're after comes available in your area.
