For a long time, we thought that 150 cable television channels were one of the biggest ways we had to access information. We thought it was the panacea of content, and at the same time, we assumed that it was one of the worst things to have happened to humanity. We tend to think that what’s new is here to stay, however, the new just like old, exists as food (fuel?) for what’s to come.
How many novelties, fashions, and trends did we see shining brightly thinking that they would blind us with so much originality and comfort. They all had their moments, their peak and with time they faded into oblivion. Today they awaken little more than melancholy. How much of what we live today will be the fertilizer of what is coming. How much of what we believe is immovable and indispensable will be forgotten in books that nobody will read anymore.
Nothing is forever. Nothing is unforgettable. It's just a matter of perspective.
Durante mucho tiempo pensamos que los 150 canales de la televisión en cable fue uno de los mayores accesos que tuvimos a información. Pensamos que eso era la panacea del contenido a la vez que suponíamos que era una de las peores cosas que le había pasado a la humanidad. Tendemos a pensar que lo que lo nuevo viene para quedarse, sin embargo, lo nuevo como lo viejo, existe como alimento para lo que está por venir.
Cuantas novedades, modas y tendencias vimos brillar pensando que nos cegarían de tanta originalidad y comodidad. Todas tuvieron su momento, su cumbre y con el tiempo se fueron desvaneciendo hasta el olvido. Hoy despiertan poco más que melancolía. Cuánto de lo que vivimos hoy será el abono de lo que viene. Cuánto de lo que creemos inamovible e indispensable quedará olvidado en libros que ya nadie leerá.
Nada es para siempre. Nada es inolvidable. Es solo una cuestión de perspectiva.
