Computer Vision Portraits

When I first started programming and learning about computer vision and creative coding platforms (OF), I was blown away as an artist. I learned the basics of coding and digital arts as an undergrad, but I became to get more and more focused on programming during my graduate studies (MFA DT Parsons).

I usually program and create physical-to-digital interactions and alternative audio/visual interfaces, but lately, I have been more aware and involved in my original craft -- painting. I've also been intrigued by the beauty that can be captured in a single frame while programming animations or object oriented projects.

The goal of this project is to repurpose computer vision technologies and integrate stillness to create a more traditional form of art: the portrait. A juxtaposition of high tech art and traditional art.

“There is a lack of understanding about what it could mean to be an artist who uses the materials of his own day or her own day. Which I think artists are obliged to do - to really explore the expressive potential of the new tools we have.”
