concept
This project was created as a part of Magazine Design course in WIZO Haifa Design Academy.
The task was to create a programme design of Billy Schwartz musical. The output format was
50X70 centimetres and the main objective was to use folding or cutting techniques without
losing any readability of the content, also paper’s surface was to be entirely used.
My concept was to design a programme that is read as a book, but it is also spreadable
to uncover a 50x70 poster.
Short synopsis, credits and the review can be read in the folded book, after unfolding user can see
the poster and the cast of a play.
*musical's story in a few words:
Billy is a secretary who dreams of a better life but in the meantime she passes her time
between answering telephone calls at the office and maintaining the relationship with

oppressive mother who insists on marrying her at all costs. One day she meets Jonathan,
with whom she falls in love and the story begins…
colors
The colours used in the design also refer to the office style: white background
with black letters and yellow elements referring to the colour of the post it cards.
Only red is out of ordinary - it symbolizes love that appears unexpectedly in the life
of the musical’s main character.
font
I’ve used one, quite transparent font (but with a slight twist) to give the whole
design more office-style, neutral look.
The illustration
consists of the contour of the Billy’s figure in the foreground and
it refers to the style of doodles made during telephone conversation.
In the background, the outline of a character filled with red is a new man
appearing in Billy's life.
