Greenland Photobook

As part of a non-profit university project, I designed a photo book about Greenland. Inside you can find maps of the different locations and shortened pages. There are also two typographic parts: Some poetry and kind of an information text.
The copyright of the photos inside the book is owned by the photographer Mads Nissen. The pictures were provided by Laif Agentur für Photos & Reportagen.

Greenland has been part of the Danish Empire since 1814. Global warming is creating new shipping routes in the Arctic, and resource deposits that were previously non-degradable due to ice masses could soon be exploited. Russia already has claims on large parts of the Arctic. The Danish government is facing the daunting challenge of securing Danish rule over this vast area. Mads Nissen traveled through Greenland - from Danish outposts and military bases, to a former weather and telecommunications station and a US military base and met some of the people whose presence in Greenland is part of the effort to keep Greenland Danish.
