Twitch is a construction of a subwoofer, which is welded under a frame and covered by a metal plate above. This is connected to a motion sensor (Sick) whose six sensitivity levels have been programmed with VVVV. Twitch is an interactive installation that acoustically and visually describes the viewer-to-object relationship. The main acoustic body is affected by the vibration produced by the metal plate, which is accompanied by synthetic chords. At the optical level, the sounds are supported by a projection, which is analogous to the sound level.
Twitch interacts with people in visual and auditive ways by challenging them to approach the installation despite immense noise and vibration.
During this project we made a lot of experimental studies about the interplay and interaction between sound and reflection. We tested lots of materials and how light and sound might build a
good looking symbiosis.
TWITCH has been created at Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design in cooperation with Henrik von der Lieth and Herman Hartung 2015.
