C is for Cables. Motherfucking Cables.

I’m pretty sure I’m not alone on this one: I hate cables. As a designer and musician, I’ve rearranged my desk numerous times to make it as stress- and trip-free as possible and made (too) many investments to 1. buy wireless gear, or 2. buy stuff to make it feel like all cables disappear.
D is for Depth.

I think this cold look depicts my idea of ‘depth’ pretty well in many perspectives. Besides the visually obvious atmosphere, it also reminds me that a very profound concept of your deepest thoughts will always be an abstract concept to others, which leaves you in a sort of sterile no man’s land.
G is for Geometry.

As a kid, I never was any good at maths. Most of the time, I think, because it wasn’t clear to me WHY we had to figure out how to split Anna’s birthday cake. I mean, fuck Anna. What has she ever done for me? That lazy kid could split her cake herself.
So, I wasn’t the brightest mathematician, unless we treated geometry. The objects spoke for itself, I didn’t need the confusing explanation of a teacher to understand it. And for those moments, I didn’t feel like a total idiot.
K is for Keen.

... since I am very keen on this sort of shape. It’s something that always seems to come back in my life, from racing stripes on my childhood matchbox cars to the frosting on my favorite cakes. I think there’s an interesting contrast between the sharp edges & soft corners.
M is for Megalophobia.

I wish I had more time to finish more details & the surroundings, but... I didn’t.
So, to a certain degree, I am megalophobic, or at least, I get a panicky sensation and painful goosebumps when extremely large structures arise, especially when they’re mobile, like airplanes, cruise ships or submarines, or when I’m walking next to an extremely high building. I noticed that large buildings in particular make me lose my balance and I feel like holding on to the ground 😂
O is for Overthinking.

So, nothing Outrageous, I felt like designing a decent letter O.
I am trying to stop overthinking literally everything. In design: trust on basic rules, but also my eyes, not checking every tenth of a millimeter where it’s really not necessary. Personal: I’m very sensitive about other people’s emotions, silent conflicts and personal intentions, and it easily wears me out. First thing: I made myself a promise not to react when people push you to read between the lines.
Once again, I was overthinking this caption, and I just deleted more than 10 lines.
So here you go, it’s an O.
P is for Push.

When it comes to pushing buttons, I am a total infant. I love to explore the feel of it. I try to push buttons as perfect as possible, try to find the best angle to push it with least amount of friction, absorbing the movement of the mechanism in my fingertip. When I’m watching tv, I constantly play with the remote control and it often results in sudden channel changes or unwanted actions. Life needs more buttons, faders, knobs & what not.
S is for Success.

I know, for ‘success’ it’s a rather simple S, but as I’m trying to stay ahead, I had some choices to make. I was down to artboard nr. 572, since S is such a grateful letter to work with. I went from gothic to serif, minimal to baroque, but I chose this design, for it matched my feed the best, in all honesty.
So why success? Apart from being the first letter, I literally feel this letter to be the most successful. Maybe an abstract thought, but... there it is. I believe I even read an article about it once...
T is for Tenacious.

I always try to analyze how a handwritten letter looks the way it looks and why it’s so hard to digitalize it. Tenacious describes pretty well how I like a handwriting best. Especially in digital design I often don’t like the “cleanliness” (depends on the design of course), so I tried making a somewhat natural T with a few layers of PS-brushes.
W is for Wes Anderson.

I’d usually take way longer to integrate one of my favorite artists in my personal work, and I already would make some changes in this design, but here you go.
Watching a Wes Anderson movie always feels like coming home to me. Somewhat quirky, but loaded with the most brilliant details and long lasting tensions that never bore. Even during the simplest scenes I can get really emotional of satisfaction and mental resemblance. It literally works soothing to step into these particular worlds he creates.
X is for X.Y.Z.

As in dandy young man (this is told to be 18th century slang, I don’t know)
But I am quite dandy, sometimes. I’ve been called a fag many times before, but I don’t think that it’s the correct term to describe my (for some) unusual persona.
I’m aware of the fact that I have a somewhat femme-ish body language, I guess. I cross my legs when I sit, I might have a bit of a loose wrist while I’m explaining something. All by all, it’s something that feels completely natural to me. It’s not that I’m putting up an obnoxious diva-act.
Z is for Zeitgeist.

It’s a cool word and it feels like something metaphysical is about to take form.
