Here are some illustrations from last year that I had to do for class, internship, and myself:
The prompt here was to choose our favorite Eraserheads songs and make covers for them using only shapes. We were only supposed to do 3 but I ended up doing 5 because I couldn't narrow down my favorites!
1

May isang umaga, na tayo'y magsasama
Haya at halina sa alapaap
O, anong sarap, haa...
ALAPAAP. Dreamy and ethereal.
2

Umuwi na tayo, hey, hey, hey
Umuwi na tayo
Dahil wala ng sense ang ating mundo
BALIKBAYAN BOX. Naked and afraid.
3

A decade would be fine
A century would be fine
Fine, fine time
FINE TIME. Frenetic, sweet.
4

Ngunit ngayon kay bilis maglaho ng kahapon
Sana'y huwag kalimutan
Ang ating mga pinagsamahan
MINSAN. School days and drifts.
5

Kailan ako lalaya
Sa anino ng pag-iisa
Mga rehas lang ang tanaw
KAILAN. Wistful, hopeful.
Fruit illustrations used for a jam brand's packaging pattern.
Pun-y murals I illustrated for The Corner Market food hall currently in The Podium.

We had to incorporate Filipino myths and legends into the aesthetic of old Filipino posters. I went with a campy, vibrant look based off of Eddie Romero's pulp films (Beast of the Yellow Night, Moro Witch Doctor, Woman Hunt, etc.) Despite the limited time available (one day!), I had a lot of fun coming up with my own film titles and concepts. As a bonus, I cast real Filipino actors and actresses in imaginary roles.
ANAK NG KABAYO.
Rape revenge action flick where three women get back at the tikbalang (half-horse half-man) who constantly wreaks havoc on their village.
TATLONG PASATSAT NA WALANG DUE PROCESS.
Zombie thriller where three victims of EJK vigilante killings end up becoming "pasatsats" after not being buried properly. They haunt those responsible for their deaths.
KA(PARE).
Buddy-stoner comedy where a smug kapre living outside a terrified teenager's window ends up becoming his friend and mentor, giving him advice on life, among other things.
Variations of my name done for Philippine Design class:
A: Beabayin
Done in Baybayin, the script of precolonial Filipinos. My name is quite short, so I tried to make use of the space around. I wanted to emphasize the curves of the type.
B: Bearlin
Berlin-themed lettering inspired by my study tour in Germany that summer.

C: Bealade runner
Made a Blade Runner Letras Y Figuras because I really, really liked 2049 (and ended up watching it 3 times).
