"STNBRG"
Stenberg brothers poster exhibition
Development of exhibition devoted to film posters created by Stenberg brothers in early 1920-th. Identity of exhibition is based on Stenbergs' works and conveys feeling of period. Identity is simple and constructive.
Brothers Vladimir and George Stenberg — “2 Stenberg 2”, as they called themselves, made it into history, primarily as the founders of the film poster art. Thanks to them, the cinematography, for the first time ever, has acquired a graphic reflection. Vladimir and George used catchy colours and “ripples”, combined the schematic images and techniques of expressionism. Kaleidoscopic effects, mirror reflections, a combination of black and white and color, diagonals and angles, fonts and large kerning - all this is an undeniable signature of their performance and the style Soviet film poster art in general.
Exhibition room was simply decorated. Visitors can read biography of brothers and see some archive photographs of Stenbergs. There is also was film space where visitors can watch a film with comfort. The space has a window to the technical space where visitors see architectial element of building. This space was decorated with two chairs and artist's equipment — pencils, and was lightened with red. Installation created atmosphere of artist's existence.
