For Design Philosophy, in groups, we were tasked with making strategic changes to the surrounding landscape aiming to create vibrant place-making, play provision and making Transition Extreme’s standout as a viable community development enterprise. All visuals were made by me.
By taking advantage of the unused space at the back we created a parkour area to reflect the oil industry, a big part of Aberdeen’s relatively recent identity.
To achieve this, we wanted to use parts of old oil rigs to create our parkour climbing frame. This would primarily be used with a volunteer parkour who would also help kids open up about their issues they might be having at home.
To feel more real and fit the atmosphere of a skate park as seating in the sunken fire pit to reflect the oil industry.
