Montpellier Tramway, France
Mission
Since 2000, the conurbation of Montpellier has developed a highly artistic approach to the image of its trams – the swallows and multicoloured flowers of the designers Garouste and Bonneti for the first two lines and then the Baroque decoration of the fashion designer Christian Lacroix for the next two.
For its fifth tramway, the conurbation of Montpellier launched a new tender process, won by Yellow Window, in cooperation with the street artist Miss. Tic.
2013
Result
Continuing the artistic story of the Montpellier trams but with a different vision, Yellow Window wanted to
blend the creativity of a leading street artist into its design team. Shifting from art to design, transposing urban art into an everyday tramway experience and offering a deeply original and unexpected approach are the aims of this cooperation.

With the simple lines of the bodywork and the use of black and white, the exteriors were designed as a backdrop for Miss. Tic’s feminine silhouettes.

The interior design offers different atmospheres created by colour and punctuated by quotations mixing humour and attitude, the superficial and the profound.

Yellow Window has come up with an environment reflecting the openness, warmth, generosity, cheerfulness and freedom of Montpellier.
