Motion Graphics
Unipetrol is a well-known fuel distributor on the Czech market,
which has launched new types of contracts for their intermediaries.
Our team’s job was to compare the differences and prepare the script and 2D flat animation.
By the way, we have found out that one of our colleagues speaks Czech fluently!
character concepts
During the process, we had different ideas about how the main character should look like.
The first sketch of this character seemed to us a bit too obvious. We had the feeling that our hero should be bigger and better built. Thanks to increasing his size, he immediately began to look more professional.

Distinctive moustache and emphasise his beer belly add a bit of „Czech” appearance.
character animation
We’ve also limited the number of characters appearing in the animation to focus on their quality instead. For this purpose we have prepared flexible rigs in the After Effects, with a cut-out set of faces and lips. We’ve adopted a principle that changes in character’s pose should take place in the blink of an eye over several frames.
3d elements
So how to create something more exciting and engaging than a simple explainer?  In this case,
we’ve decided to add a few simple 3D elements, which in fact helped to keep all the scenes at high pace.

Finally, we’ve reduced the backgrounds to a minimum, to have essential
elements morph smoothly and to emphasize all animated transitions.
postproduction
Flat design isn’t as popular as it used to be, that's why we have decided to add depth in postproduction!
We've added layer styles with inner shadow, set the proper blending mode and high noise value for each body part. It had to be animated frame by frame at the times, so you can imagine it was pain in the ass.
To be honest, we love the Czech language and Czech clients. It’s always fun to work with them.
This project will stay in our minds for long.

Děkuji!
