It was our last year of college and we were all parting ways. In an exploration of emotion I asked a selection of friends to participate in a contemplative photo series. The Result? A study in expression. Why? I wanted to show the layers of these friends in a way that was different than a typical college portrait. As a culture we put an emphasis on smiling photos, and yet, there's more depth and personality even in the somber setting. 

Next? In 10 or 20 years, I'd love to do it again and see what's changed.
