THEATRE OF CRUELTY: THE GRAND GESTURE!
What better way to organically invoke the theatre of cruelty than to do so in a space where people congregate weekly to put on their proverbial masks and step out of their dominant outfit of their being? The nightclub of course!
Why should there be a restrictive element to the arts when it is out there already waiting to be explored. The public set out to be entertained and, if they get lucky, devour one another’s egotistical masks of human nature in order to put on a show of spectacular splendor.
The spectators become the spectacle. The narcissists and the vanity of humankind will have to be confronted and questioned through a flashlight and a mirror. The question is now put to them. They are asked to LOOK AT THEMSELVES!
Humour as destruction can serve to reconcile the corrosive nature of laughter to the habits of reason.
