Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (also known as ALS) is a disease that gradually paralyzes people because the brain is no longer able to communicate with the muscles of the body. Over time, as the muscles break down, you will lose the ability to walk, talk, eat, swallow, and eventually breathe. There is no cure and few treatment options. Approximately 80 per cent of people with ALS die within two to five years of being diagnosed.

The disease is rare and it’s hard to get funds for research. ALS needs to get more attention. This is why raising awareness is key.
