By The Time I Got To Woodstock...

"By the Time I Got to Woodstock" is a graphic memoir (2019). Three icons who all died at age 27, between 1970-1971, are appreciated more now than back then, when I was a teenager. Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and Jim Morrison. No, I didn't get to Woodstock until 2017, when I visited the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts Museum. Which inspired this project.
The incomparable Janis Joplin!
JImi Hendrix played an electrifying Star-Spangled Banner to the nearly empty field.
JIm Morrison did not play due to fear of a possible assassination attempt.
Not at Woodstock, but lived there and inspired most of the Woodstock generation and musicians who did play.
Bert Sommer was a 20-year-old unknown, and this was his first live gig. "The Lost Bard of Woodstock" received the first standing ovation, and  he should be more famous than he is.
