Granny Flat Addition

This granny flat addition is tucked away at the back of a long and narrow lot of a subdivision house. A challenge is met when the site does not meet the requirement to build a detached two-storey house. The solution lies in the design of the roof which gives an opportunity to fit in two additional bedrooms exists within the high-pitched loft, meaning the footprint of the house can be halved and the existing beloved olive tree can be kept. On the west side, the roof continues down to the ground providing extra wall thickness for insulation and shade to the louvers that lets in the breeze into the bedroom loft.
