The Rise of Veganism

Veganism has seen a huge increase in recent years, as much as 350% in the last decade. With this increase in the number vegans the lifestyle has attracted a lot of attention from people who are not vegan. Most people today are aware of veganism, but most, unless they have researched it, won’t know much about it beyond the diet. This had led to many people having a lot of questions about what veganism is, why people do it and why it’s getting so popular. This design project aims to answers many of the questions people have about veganism and to give them unbiased information on some of the reasons for and against it, as well as the effect that a vegan diet can have on health and other aspects of life.

For this project I had to design a 48 page hardback book about, and covering many different aspects of, veganism. Veganism is a way of living which seeks
to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose. The book is divided into five sections, titled What, Why, Negatives, Activism and Issues. Each section covers different aspects of veganism; ranging from what it is, to its growth as a lifestyle choice, the possible positives and negatives of it, vegan activist groups and issues that relate to veganism such as honey and pet ownership.
