"THE DAY I MET THE PRINCE" Theatre Production 2016
Universiti Sains Malaysia's School of the Arts' Students from the Drama & Theatre Department, from 'thought to stage', takes the production "THE DAY I MET THE PRINCE" on tour, to provide industry experience to students in managing a tour production. After launching the tour’s maiden performance at Performing Arts Centre of Penang (penangpac), the team embarked to journey on tour to Temple of Fine Arts Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Singapore, and final stop to Murdoch University in Perth-Western Australia.
The production is an interdisciplinary art collaboration team as it gathered talented students from different department in School of the Arts' Students including drama & theatre, music, graphic design, product design, new multimedia and fine arts. Each of them play vital role in the production with their skill professional.
Play’s Synopsis:
The Day I Met the Prince is a play based on the French novel “The Little Prince”, adapted by Kuo Pao Kun, a Singapore playwright and recipient of the Cultural Medallion Award.
In order to find the solution on “How to save a rose from being eaten up by a goat?, The Little Prince and “I” embark on an enticing and imaginative journey. In their adventure, they encounter people from different backgrounds having different goals and objectives in life. But; will the Little Prince and “I” ever find the answer in time before daybreak at the Little Prince’s planet?
This play touches on issues such as individuality, imagination, education, dreams, creativity, and freedom of expression in the minds and senses of adults and children alike.
