This is our scenography for Atlanta Ballet, USA.
The ballet is called «Concerto Armonico», it was a world premiere by the Mariinsky Theatre’s Maxim Petrov, performed to Alexander Tcherepnin’s 1953 composition «Concerto for Harmonica and Orchestra».
Ballet consists of 4 parts, so we gathered references for each of the part while listening to the Tcherepnin's music.
Then we made some sketches for each part.
Then we talked to the theatre and decided to have only two backgrownds, one for 1st, 3rd and 4th part — and one for the 2nd.
We painted the 1-3-4 parts' background like this:

We were working only on scenography, but we tried ourselves in costume concepts and draw some patterns for it:
