This book series depicts three separate stories by Haruki Murakami that are related to theme and character. The covers are meant to depict the lives of each protagonist whose mundane routines are thrown off by unique events. In the "The Second Bakery Attack" a restless couple decides to rob a McDonalds of its burgers and buns one late night to break a "curse" that has been affecting their relationship. Each cover’s shading represents the time of day in each stories climax.
