This motion poem is a response to the current situation of U.S. immigration and the struggles of many Latin American immigrants that expose themselves while crossing the border. The story is about an unknown undocumented traveler who reflects about a long and dark journey while traveling in a train.

This project was an investigation of abstract forms using flashlights, torn papers, apertures on boxes, and shiny objects. My DSLR camera was my third eye in this investigation. Every night, I prepared a series of experiments in which light was my main performer in front of the camera lens. I used a variety of objects and methods to produce abstract forms with lights. The goal for this investigation was unknown at the time. However, after observing and studying the results, I decided to give meaning to my lights collection through a Spanish poem narrated by an immigrant (me).

Testing Footage
These are some examples of typical footage captured while working at my studio. After each experiment, I would make observations as a way to engage with different materials. Sometimes, I would import the footage into After Effects as another way to explore even more.
This footage was created by covering a flash light with my thumb. I did a series of tests with the results (see the next 2 videos after this one)
