Green Court Sports Club - Crest Redesign Concept

GREEN COURT SPORTS CLUB
Crest Redesign Concept

Passion project for the rebrand and design of the Green Court Sports Club crest.

After many years of running the sports club, they decided to start their own team.
Green Court FC was formed in 2012 and are playing in the Orpington & Bromley District Sunday Football League (OBDSFL).

The sports club has no existing crest. However, the football team does utilise a crest, although I am not sure it has any significant meaning or identifies with the sports club
at all.
Existing Crest
I am not sure if Green Court actually utilise the above logo on their kit. If they do however, I feel as if it has been put together with very little thought. The first thing that comes to mind about a team with the word 'Green' in it would be to actually use that colour in its crest.

With my design I aim to give the club an identity by creating a crest that not only can be used on a football kit; but can also be used to represent the sports club as a venue/ business. I want my design to be able to be used on staff uniforms, menu's and other such mediums. A modern, functional logo that can be used as branding throughout Green Court Sports Club, not just its football team.
When creating my crest for Green Court, I was heavily influenced by the German style of football logo. Many are very minimalistic but leave a lasting impression via their use of bold/ vibrant yet limited colour palette. Below I have placed my design amongst similar/ recognisable existing German Football Teams badges.

Each follow a very simple yet eye-catching structure. They utilise a round foundation and typographic elements to form their crests, as well as using only two colours in the cases below. This style is what I wanted to invoke int the Green Court logo design. I believe it seamlessly fits in with those around it below, and is a style not as commonly seen in the English game. This will make it stand out all the more.

Above shows how the crest would work or could be displayed in a variety of ways. To enable a choice as to how you want the crest displayed on different mediums is essential if the purpose is for it to be utilised over a variety of platforms, as the case is here.

I felt it was important to have a version of the logo with the full accompanying text displayed represent the whole body of the sports club as a whole. The choice is there to strip back elements of the logo if and when required, whilst still maintaining that strong identity created.

Above and around are the different ways the crest can be displayed. From clothing and apparel, to stationary and signage. The design successfully works across all platforms. Options are available as to what version to use where, but over all formats the crest maintains its bold, memorable qualities that will stand the test of time.
